    ASP and Double Quotes will only work within the ASP code itself, if you double up on the Quotes. From " to ""
  • Details
    When you write Double Quotes into your ASP code, you sometimes forget to double up on them. If you do not double up on the Quotes, you will receive the error below.

    Microsoft VBScript compilation (0x800A03EE)
    Expected ')'
    wiki.asp, line 27, column 72
    strString1 = Reggex(strString1, "\=\=\=\=(.*?)\=\=\=\=", "<li><a class="ConMenu" href="#$1">$1</a></li>")
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------^
  • Recreate Issue
    To recreate this issue

    <%
    strString1 = Reggex(strString1, "\=\=\=\=(.*?)\=\=\=\=", "<li><a class="ConMenu" href="#$1">$1</a></li>")
    %>

    The above string has only single Quotes, and this will cause you to receive the error.
  • Resolve Issue
    To correctly write out Quotes within your ASP code perform the following.

    <%
    strString1 = Reggex(strString1, "\=\=\=\=(.*?)\=\=\=\=", "<li><a class=""ConMenu"" href=""#$1"">$1</a></li>")
    %>

    As you can see in the above example, we have doubled up on our Quotes.
    This will make our output correct XHTML Validated code, and will make it so that our ASP will validate as well, and that means no more errors.
