Microsoft Store has crashed and cannot be forced closed through the task manager.
  • Article Details

After opening the Microsoft Store app, it stops responding.
You try to force-close it through Task Manager, but it doesn't work.
  • Recreate Issue

Microsoft Store has crashed. Force-closing through Task Manager does not work.
  • Resolve Issue

The following instructions are what I used to close the [Microsoft Store] app when it crashed.

    Open [Powershell]
    Copy and paste the following

    taskkill /im WinStore.App.exe /f

    Click the [Enter] key.
You should get the following error.

ERROR: The process "WinStore.App.exe" with PID 13956 could not be terminated.
Reason: There is no running instance of the task.

In the [Task Manager], you should see that the Microsoft Store App is no longer listed.
However, the Microsoft Store app may still be running on your Desktop.

Scroll down the list under [Background processes].
    You should see

Application Framework Host = Not Responding

    Right-click and choose [End Task]
This should close the Microsoft Store app.
You may have to reboot your computer to relaunch the app.
